C71 - Haruhigurashi

Comiket is a great biannual event since so much new fan-made content is created. A release I really enjoyed this time around, is the album, Haruhigurashi by @RYOUKI & ABSOLUTE CASTAWAY. It's basically a cover album of the Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni anime OP and ED, the Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu OP and ED, and the 3 songs from the album released on the day Live Alive aired. (God knows..., Lost My Music, and Koi no Mikuru Densetsu.
My favorites are the Lost My Music cover and Koi no "Nagato" Densetsu. The LMM cover sounds very much like a live performance and has extra spunk to it compared to the original. Koi no Nagato Densetsu is a very nice parody since the two vocals are very close to Haruhi's and Yuki's. I really like this song because the electric guitar is much heavier and the imitation Haruhi voice is so freakin' awesome.

Here are some adorable scans:

This album is definitely a keeper, and the mini Haruhi and Rena are too freakin' cute. Some good songs to comfort me since I am incredibly sick now. Hurray for Winter.

Comiket!

It's that time of the year again! While most of the world is scrambling around getting ready for Christmas and other holidays, the holiest of holy days for Otaku is fast approaching. That's right boys and girls, Winter Comic Market (71) is fast approaching.

For those of you unfamiliar with Comic Market (Comiket for short), I refer you to the wikipedia entry. Essentially, a convention that happens biannually spanning 2-3 days specializing in doujin (fan) products of anime, manga, games, and music. To many Otaku, this is Mecca.

Last year, I was fortunate enough to visit it. Through a cunning battle plan (wake up at 4am, take a taxi to the front of Tokyo Big Sight, camp out till the gates open at 10am, bum rush the hall) I was able to make it out with most of what I wanted that year. You can see some pictures of the cosplayers there last year here.

Anyway, this year I'm not quite so lucky as to be able to afford to go. But, there's still some stuff I want from there.
