Wii Sports
So I just spent the last hour or so playing Wii Sports and I have figured out once again what I have been saying all these years through college: Damn, I need to work out more.
I mean, seriously. You get out of college, you get a nice job where you actually have decent amount of time to do other things, and you vow to get in shape by getting an expensive membership at the local gym (for me, the rock climbing gym). Yet what do you end up doing? You sit on your couch playing video games (or in front of your computer watching anime) and watch your wallet bleed dry from these stupid gym costs that you never bothered going to.
Well, all that has changed now. With this new $250 piece of equipment, I can now pretend to go out and do stuff on the TV while still getting a workout. If you don't believe me, try it out. Find a buddy with a Wii, or if you have cheap friends a retailer with a Wii Demo Kiosk, and try out Wii boxing. Next, try it with actual movement instead of sitting around like a toolbox. See the difference? You're not leaking water, you're sweating. Big difference.
So I'm faced with a dilemma here. Do I cancel my rock climbing gym membership? It's an extra $60 a month I can use toward more junk, but at the same time it's nice to be able to stop by there after work and just climb. I get just as much of a workout playing Wii Sports as I do actually going out and doing stuff. All from the comfort of my own home. But then, hot girls go to the gym and climb.
Bottom line: Girls are nice. The gym membership stays.
