Cool Wiimote Stuff

I thought these videos were pretty damn cool.

The first video shows how a Wiimote can be used for 3D Animation software, to determine its absolute position in space, and as a virtual lightsaber.

The second video features the ability to track your fingers with the Wiimote. Gloob TV already brings up the idea of emulating the Minority Report software.

Super Swing Golf - Pangya

Artists Link:
Rick-o-Sound
I think I've already posted this one, so a second link...

"Super Swing Golf," or "Ska to Golf Pangya," was released last week. So, like the good little consumer sheep I am I went and bought it on the day it came out. Clutching it in my sweaty excited grip I went home and popped it in, hoping to see and play as my sweet honeys: Kooh and Cecelia. That, of course was not to be.

Wii Strap Recall

Hey all,

Back from extraction of wisdom... er, wisdom teeth. Recovering fine, I guess. But the big news is the Nintendo Wii Strap Recall!

An article from the Washington Post talks a bit about Nintendo's recent announcement.

wiihaveaproblem.com is also detailing the recall.

Follow this link to go directly to Nintendo's strap recall page.

The new strap is thicker and 'beefier'. Hopefully it will be strong enough to withstand the force that some idiots use when playing. Or, they could be more idiotic and use even more force... ;_;

I'll probably be ordering some replacement straps just for the hell of it. Safety first, right? :)

Twilight Princess: Nausicaa's return?!!!

As I've recently gotten back to playing The Legend of Zelda on the Wii, 2 words struck me over and over again (alright, maybe closer to 4 or 5, but they're all interrelated), and that is....HAYAO MIYAZAKI!

Why Hayao Miyazaki? Well, if you don't want any spoilers, don't read on any further, but unlike me, I'm quite sure many readers here have already gone much, much further than me. =P

When you first see the Twilight world and the "Boom Tube" the weird designs just screamed "NAUSICAA!" over and over again. Any manga readers of Miyazaki's Nausicaa will notice how eeriely similar many of the architecture and style of the twilight bad guys are very much like that found in the organic "lost" technology in Nausicaa, or when you save the First Guardian of Light, it looked very much like the Deer of Nature found in Princess Mononoke. Even the Second Guardian of Life's art style reminds me very much of how Miyazaki would drove kami-like nature deities and so on.

*end spoilers*

Is it my imagination going wild, or do you see it too? Post on, dear readers!

The Wii and Family

Artist Link:

(I'm experimenting on where to put my Artists Links when I have them)

If any of you read Joystiq, then most likely you have read about the various stories over Thanksgiving Weekend of gamers convincing their families to play the console with them, usually ending with very positive results. Well, to test that, I finally managed to convince my parents to sit down and play a round of games with me.

Wii Sports

So I just spent the last hour or so playing Wii Sports and I have figured out once again what I have been saying all these years through college: Damn, I need to work out more.

I mean, seriously. You get out of college, you get a nice job where you actually have decent amount of time to do other things, and you vow to get in shape by getting an expensive membership at the local gym (for me, the rock climbing gym). Yet what do you end up doing? You sit on your couch playing video games (or in front of your computer watching anime) and watch your wallet bleed dry from these stupid gym costs that you never bothered going to.
